COMPLETED BOOKS:

Heroes and Companions (Kyoshi Era Book 1: Insistence)

Mayu the Destined / 28 / Weapons Training (Sword and Bow)

A non-bender warrior from the Foggy Swamp, Mayu was marked by the Foggy Swamp's mystical banyan tree and bears a tattoo-sleeve/mark of the night sky. He fought in the Earth Kingdom military before being discharged, and now operates as a mercenary, taking off-the-books assignments from his former CO Major Rolan or other officials.

After confronting Enji in Ba Sing Se, Mayu threw himself and Enji into the portal of Hui Yi, banishing them both.

Po the Bold / 20 / Earthbender

A fledgling Dai Li agent, Po grew up in the Upper Ring of Ba Sing Se. Headstrong and confident earthbender, Po went out into the borderlands of the capitol to try and prove himself and help further the Dai Li's agenda: to protect the kingdom.

After confronting Enji, and his father, in Ba Sing Se, Po left his family obligations behind and became a fighter for the people.

Taqqiq the Foundling / 19 / Waterbender

A displaced waterbender from the South Pole, Taqqiq grew up first in a refugee colony near the Foggy Swamp. He discovered that many of the adults in his village were raiding nearby Earth Kingdom settlements, and he left that fate and ran away to a small Earth Kingdom community. There he was taught by an old Earthbender who took all the kids under his wing. Taqqiq left because he needed a real waterbending master to move forward, and because his master knew he had a greater role in the world.

After Enji's defeat, Taqqiq traveled the Four Nations with Tiri, showing her the wonders he'd seen on the road.

Kensaya the Hammer / 22 / Firebender

A young firebender, Kensaya was displaced when his home of firebenders got in a dispute with a nearby waterbending village. Alone in the wilderness, he was picked up by the Mischief Dragons gang, a well-meaning group of bandits that lived up to a code of honor. At war with a nearby gang - the Punctured Boars - the Mischief Dragons were attacked by the Boars' top members, including a firebender named Allaya. Kensaya's master, Bushin, was assassinated, and the group splintered into the region.

After Enji's defeat,

Important NPCs (Kyoshi Era Book 1: Insistence)

Enji / 39 / Weapons Training

An itinerant monk, Enji has been traveling through the Earth Kingdom visiting sacred sites. He's particularly interested in holy places that have perhaps become dormant since Kuruk's crusade against dark spirits. His family was killed during clashes with the daofei in Ba Sing Se and Avatar Kyoshi as she came back to pacify the capital. He traveled with the group to the White Raven Shrine.

He bears a star-field tattoo on his right shoulder/arm similar to Mayu's. He claimed this appeared on him after being trapped in the crystal caverns beneath Ba Sing Se, and a hermetic Earthbender told him it could lead him to a realm where he could revisit and regain his lost family. He imagined that the White Raven spirit, Kaanu, would be the source of this realm.

During the events of the Coalescence with Kaanu, Enji attacked the spirit in an attempt to absorb the White Raven's ability to collect and store memories. He believed this was where he was meant to rejoin with his family, but was dejected that turned out to be wrong. When confronted by the companions and their allies, he lamented he had to injure Kaanu and said he needed to return to Ba Sing Se for more information on where his stars were directing him. He fled with Sonam on the airbender's sky bison.

Chona / 18 / Weapons Training (Knives)

AChona was once a daofei operative, but tried to turn from that life. She met a scholar named Long and began working with him in Ba Sing Se. Long was later killed for knowledge of the White Raven Shrine's location, and Chona escaped. She fled from the daofei who hunted Long and wanted to go to Omashu for help. Major Rolan tasked Mayu and Po with bringing her in from the cold, but the gang was waylaid by Allaya's attack. Chona stuck with the gang as they looked for the White Raven Shrine, and has become more instrumental in their defenses against the daofei pursuing them.

Major Rolan / 45 / Earthbender

An Earth Kingdom officer who believes in pacifying the borders and helping the outlying villages. He sent Mayu to retrieve Po at the behest of the Dai Li and Po's parents, but believed the pair and their companions could prove useful out in the world.

Allaya / 24 / Firebender

A Firebender of the Punctured Boar gang, Allaya killed Kensaya's mentor and group leader. She is aloof and precise, a precision hunter on the lookout for rising above her station and proving herself.

She confronted the group about the Sapphire Eye and took it from them, only later to be trapped by the companions and the jewel reclaimed by them.

Wu Xan / 40s / Earthbender

An Earthbending daofei who was trying to reunite disparate bands under the banner of the Lapis Ward. The companions fought him but he retreated, joining with Allaya in her hunt for the group.

He later followed the gang into the Great Divide, and, following their trail and markings, made his way to the White Raven Shrine. He attacked on the night of the Coalescence but was thwarted by Chona and Taqqiq.
