Episode 10: The Hermit and the Monk, Part II

As Taqqiq and Lei Fang's group descend below Ba Sing Se toward the Crystal Catacombs, the rest of the gang  makes their presence known. Avoiding a fight with the Fanged Mercenaries, they agree to team up, both looking for Zato the Unyielding and the monk, Enji.

While investigating some old ruins, Kensaya runs into an old man -- Zato! -- who baits him but the rest of the group is unsure. The group gets split up after Po's earthbending isn't strong enough to dig through the old tunnels beneath the great city.

Mayu and Po travel and see what appears to be another memorial vision, one of Enji meeting Zato for the first time. Meanwhile, Taqqiq and Lei Fang encounter Zato, who's camped out at an underground river. Zato admits he doesn't know where Enji is, but that the monk is likely trying to understand about his marked tattoos and how to interpret the map to his lost family.

Kensaya, alone, encounters Enji, and the two stand off before begrudgingly following one another. They eventually meet up with Mayu and Po and some of the Fanged Mercenaries. The Fanged Mercenaries want to take down Enji, but Po and Mayu are willing to understand more about what's going on. They fend off the Fanged Mercenaries, leaving them and looking for Taqqiq and Lei Fang.

Everyone meets up at Zato's camp, where Lei Fang pushes back against Enji using him to attack Long, the archaeologist, and Lei Fang reveals that Chona was his daughter and he's upset that he might've harmed her. Enji says he knew not of their relationship but that it doesn't matter. He questions why Zato didn't reveal to him that going to see Kaa at the White Raven Shrine was an incorrect path, but Zato didn't know Enji's intentions, nor his rage when the White Raven Shrine provided no results. Enji struck Kaa out of his own disappointment and anger, not out of Zato's reading of the strange tattoos.

Taqqiq steps in and, being a child of two nations, elicits a tenuous peace between Lei Fang's group and Enji.

Zato posits that Enji and Mayu's celestial maps are somehow a pair -- north and south, but he doesn't know specifically how to read them. There is discussion of traveling with Enji to better understand what their two destinies mean, and the gang returns upward to Ba Sing Se....
